AMD said to launch Ryzen/Zen APUs in late 2017

We've now seen what AMD is bringing to the table in the high-end CPU market this year but there are still plenty of people waiting on cheaper options based on the Zen microarchitecture. Aside from Ryzen desktop CPUs, including the R7 8 Core, R5 6 Core and R3 4 Core series it looks like can also expect APUs later this year.

Responding to questions on Reddit earlier this week, an AMD representative explained that ‘Ryzen' is the brand for the ‘Zen' architecture launching this year. The rollout starts on March 2nd with Ryzen 7 but will spread to APUs (CPU+GPU SoC) in the second half of the year.

There will also be some Zen-based mobile products in the second half of 2017, so AMD appear to have done a good job when it comes to scaling the architecture down to lower power products.

Aside from APUs, AMD will be rolling out some 6 Core/12 Thread Ryzen 5 series processors, with the top end R5 chip rumoured to cost around $250.

KitGuru Says: AMD's Ryzen 7 CPUs have a lot of buzz but not everyone can spend $329+ on a CPU. How many of you are waiting on cheaper Ryzen CPUs or even APUs?
