Seven RX Vega SKUs spotted in AMD driver code

It seems that AMD is busy preparing drivers for the RX Vega launch as this week, thousands of lines of updates code were sent out as part of a series of little patches, adding RX Vega support to AMD's Linux graphics drivers. Inside of the code, seven different Vega SKUs are listed, alongside several Polaris 12 GPUs, which are rumored to be arriving as early as next month.

According to Phoronix, patches are rolling out to provide initial support for the Vega architecture. With this being a more complex architecture compared to Polaris, around 40 thousand lines of code were required, which has brought along support for new hardware intellectual property, a new video BIOS interface alongside support for video decoding using UDV and encoding using VCE.

These Linux drivers also add support for Vega's power management features. Here is the full list of Vega 10 devices listed in the update:
{0x1002, 0x6860, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},
{0x1002, 0x6861, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},
{0x1002, 0x6862, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},
{0x1002, 0x6863, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},
{0x1002, 0x6867, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},
{0x1002, 0x686c, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},
{0x1002, 0x687f, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, CHIP_VEGA10},

Now it is important to note that these aren't all gaming GPUs, some of them will be for FirePro products, rather than the RX gaming series. As for when we can expect to get our hands on the RX Vega, the launch is still on track for Q2, which kicks off next month. However, we are currently only expecting a Polaris refresh in April, so Vega may not show up until May or June.

KitGuru Says: With Q2 right at our doorstep, we can expect to hear much more about the RX Vega over the coming weeks and/or months. As we get closer to the official launch, we will likely end up with more than a few leaks to look over. Are any of you planning on upgrading once the RX Vega launches?
