Call of Duty: WWII campaign, multiplayer, release date and beta details leak

Following leaks from earlier this month, Activision officially unveiled Call of Duty: WWII alongside plans for a full reveal livestream in two days time. However, the official reveal hasn't deterred leakers from jumping in while they still can, with new leaks this week revealing the game's release date, beta program and more.

This new information comes via leaked marketing materials obtained by Charlie Intel. According to the leaks, Call of Duty: WWII will be released on the 3rd of November and will offer a ‘private beta' to those who pre-order. There is no specific mention of an open beta but given Call of Duty's track record, there should be one, though those who don't pre-order won't get as much play time.

Here is the game description: “Call of Duty returns to its roots with Call of Duty: WWII–a breathtaking experience that redefines World War II for a new gaming generation. Land in Normandy on D-Day and battle across Europe through iconic locations in history’s most monumental war. Experience classic Call of Duty combat, the bonds of camaraderie, and the unforgiving nature of war against a global power throwing the world into tyranny.”

The campaign will tell the story of an “unbreakable brotherhood of common men fighting to preserve freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny”. The campaign is described as a ‘gritty and intense' journey through the battles of WWII and as always, there will be a cinematic flair to it.

Here is the multiplayer description, which goes out of its way to mention players being grounded, which probably means no more jetpacks, despite recent speculation:

“Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer engages players grounded, fast-paced combat across many of World War II’s most iconic locations. Players will also enjoy exciting new ways to interact and socialize with their friends and the Call of Duty community”.

KitGuru Says: Infinite Warfare was a bit of a misfire but Call of Duty fans already seem excited about the franchise again now that it is returning to its roots. Hopefully we will see some gameplay during the livestream later this week.
