Ipad mini could face tight stock

Earlier this week Apple announced the new iPad Air and iPad mini with retina display with the only difference between the two being price and size. The new iPad mini holds all of the same specs as the iPad Air but the smaller size cuts its price by £80 giving you every reason to take the smaller tablet and save some money. However, it seems Industry expert Rhoda Alexander, director of tablet research at IHS thinks that supply for the iPad mini might suffer from stock shortages much like the gold iPhone 5s did, stating that stock will be “ridiculously tight”.

Experts believe that Apple can only produce about a third of the total iPad mini's shipped last year in time for launch. That said, the new mini tablet isn't due out for another month so there is still time for Apple to produce more.

UK networks will be offering 4G and 3G contract deals for both of the new iPads for those of you who like to spread the cost out but if you're looking to buy one straight from Apple the price goes from £319 for 16GB WiFi all the way up to £659 for 128GB with WiFi and 4G/3G.

The slightly bigger iPad Air isn't thought to be facing the same problem and is due out on the 1st of November.

KitGuru Says: When you factor in the pricing along with the similar performance, I don't see why Apple wouldn't expect it's new mini tablet to be a hit. It is a bit more expensive over last years model but the specs aren't nearly as crippled as they were. Would you guys go for the smaller form factor and save some money? It seems like the smart choice to me.
