Multiplay i49 builds up to be their biggest gaming event ever

Most people will spend their gaming lives re-enacting the classic Pink Floyd line, “Hanging on in quiet desperation” because it's the English way. The world's 3rd largest gaming service provider disagrees. In a BIG way. KitGuru wishes it had brought a very wide angle lens to take it i49.

The most common question we hear from those who have only just been exposed to Multiplay's Insomnia (i-series) events is, “So how long have they been doing this?”.

With 3 events a year and the ‘i' digit increasing by ‘1' each time, we can all pick up a calculate and discover that 49/3 = 16 and a bit years.

Growth has not always been steady, but – over time – it continues to happen.

i49 is a MONSTER.

There, we have said it.

We'll bring you some cool shots from around the event itself once it is fully up and running on Friday 23rd August, but – for now – here are cool glimpses behind the scenes at the Telford International Centre for Multiplay i49 – access courtesy of ‘The Management', i.e. Craig and Stewart Fletcher.

This hall is clearly massive. But it is not alone. Thousands of gamers need thousands of seats, bandwidth like a small town and enough electricity to keep Las Vegas happy for a week

KitGuru says: The i49 event includes gamers who bring their own PC, spectators and families. From what we can tell, almost every ticket – of every kind – has been sold and the day is not yet done. More shots of the stands being built later.
