U.S. Army prepare for new age of war – testing hypersonic weapon

The US Army has been testing a new weapon capable of traveling and five times the speed of sound. They launched the new Advanced Hypersonic Weapon from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai at 1.30 am.

The weapon's glide vehicle reached the destination of Kwajalein Atoll, around 2,300 miles away in under 30 minutes according to Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Col. Melinda Morgan.

The US are preparing for a new age of weaponry which can strike globally, as fast as possible. These new weapons would allow America to target anywhere in the world in as little as an hour.

They are calling the new weapon the ‘AHW', or Advanced Hypersonic Weapon, it is built to fly long distances at 5 times the speed of sound. The early tests are to check data on the journey and to ascertain how the vehicle handles over long distances. The AHW is designed to avoid flying over third party nations on the journey. It can also use a precision guidance system to home in on any target.

Kitguru says: A very powerful new weapon from the US, and one that could negate enemy threats very quickly.
