We really like the ATI HD5850 and the HD5770. These cards have been dominating their respective places in the market for the last six months and we don't see any sign of this changing in the immediate future. They run cool, overclock well and are competitively priced.
While the reference boards are great, the Sapphire Vapor based cards have always improved on the original designs and the Vapor X HD5770 verifies these findings by reducing noise and lowering overall temperatures. Sure the card only has a 10mhz core overclock as standard but the headroom available is impressive. We managed to get 95mhz from the core and over 200mhz from the memory, with little effort. While overclocking always varies from card to card, we would assume you would get close to our results.
In the UK the Vapor X is around £20 more expensive than the reference edition which in my opinion is worth it for the cooler alone. If you consider the significantly reduced noise and massive overclocking potential then it seems like a very Guru-like option.
I am confident in saying that if you are in the market for a video card and have a budget of £150 to work with then the Sapphire HD5770 Vapor X is pretty much as good as you will get.
KitGuru says: Sapphire cooling solutions still lead the pack.
