Sapphire HD6850 Toxic Edition Review

Our sample was just out of the factory and wasn't supplied in the retail box, so we have included an image that Sapphire sent us of the finished artwork (above).

The bundle included is comprehensive. A software disc, power and video adapters, and a displayport to HDMI convertor cable (and HDMI cable). There is also a Crossfire cable and a Sapphire Select Club information leaflet.

The card has a Sapphire proprietary cooling system installed with the fan set to the right. The PCB is an attractive blue design.

The card has full HD6870 connectivity at the rear which is impressive: 2x mini DP (1.2), HDMI 1.4a, and 2x DL-DVI and SL-DVI connectors. It requires dual 6 pin power connectors to operate, which is also a HD6870 configuration.

The cooler is a hefty multiple heatpipe design which will offer improved cooling when compared with the original design.

The Sapphire HD6850 Toxic Edition is supplied ‘out of the box’ with significant overclocks from 775mhz to 820mhz core and from 1000mhz memory (4000mhz effective) to 1100mhz (4400mhz effective).
