Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X OC and R9 290 Vapor-X OC review

Tomb Raider received much acclaim from critics, who praised the graphics, the gameplay and Camilla Luddington’s performance as Lara with many critics agreeing that the game is a solid and much needed reboot of the franchise. Much criticism went to the addition of the multiplayer which many felt was unnecessary. We switched over to the ASUS Ultra HD 4K monitor and set to the ULTIMATE profile for maximum image quality.

The advantages of the dual GPU AMD R9 295X2 are clearly seen at Ultra HD 4K resolutions. The Sapphire R9 290 Vapor-X OC holds a frame rate of 25+ most of the time, dropping only once to 23 frames per second in a mountainous area of the environment. The Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X OC however struggles to maintain smooth frame rates at the same settings.
