Fractal Design Core 3000 Case Review

The exterior of the Core 3000 reflects the minimalist design that is present throughout the whole of Fractal Design's range of cases.  But, in a cost cutting effort, they have removed the front door that is present on the Define R3 and XL and have replaced it with a dust filtered mesh which makes up almost the whole front of the case.

Fractal Design have used SECC steel exclusively in the construction of the Core 3000 which is what we would expect from any case at this price point.  Fractal Design seem to use thicker steel than most competitors which gives the case a quality feel, like the rest of their range.

The front panel connectors are located on the top edge of the case alongside the power and reset buttons.  These connections consist of four USB2.0 connectors and headphone and microphone jacks.  It would have been nice if they had included one or two USB3.0 ports here but we can't really expect this as standard on a case at this price level.

In the roof of the case there are two 120mm fan vents, one of which is populated with a 120mm exhaust fan with the other left empty.  Sadly, there is no dust filter on the empty slot but this isn't a huge issue.  There is another 120mm exhaust fan in the rear of the case.
