The Intel X25 V 40GB was one of our favourite SSD drives when it was released and revisiting them for this review hasn't altered our opinion that this is one of the best value for money drives on the market. When you take into consideration they are due for another price drop in the next week, you really are getting a hell of a drive for the price.
A Raid 0 configuration is a fantastic way to enjoy higher levels of SSD performance with minimal outlay and the ideal drives for this right now are the Intel X25 V 40GB and the Corsair F40 40GB which we reviewed over here. Most people can easily afford one, then upgrade to an additional unit at a later date. Best of all is that Intel claim TRIM support will work for specific Raid 0 configurations.
Our review today won't be a practical solution for many users, however it shows in a very clear way additional performance gains with 1,2 and even 4 of these drives. Remember, the price of four of these SSD's in the UK will probably work out around £350-360 next week, and many people have paid this in the past for a single 128GB.
KitGuru Says: The Intel X25 V 40GB still remains one of our top choices for an inexpensive SSD with easy ‘upgrade' options down the line.
