Cryo Nemesis System Review (Sandybridge, 4.8ghz)

The Windows Experience Index rates the system as a 5.9 out of 7.9, although this is wrong, as it is taking the ‘primary hard disk' reading from the 1TB mechanical hard drive used as the storage drive, rather than the solid state drive, which is configured as the OS and boot drive. The Crucial C300 scores around 7.4-7.5, so this would in fact be the final score. We don't hold much value in this rating, but it is always included in our system reviews as a matter of interest.

Cryo never clutter their systems with unnecessary programs, and we are glad to see that the Nemesis remains true to their goals. A nice clean install with only the necessary drivers (and CPUz) installed.

Above, CPU screenshots showing the hardware installed. The Intel i7 2600k rating shows 1600mhz. Cryo have left the C states enabled in the bios so the processor can downclock when necessary to save power. The Corsair memory is running at 1600mhz with nice tight timings of 7-8-7-20.

When loaded, the machine runs at 4.8ghz as can be seen above. Validation for this system is available over here.

The Asus bios is fully featured and Cryo always spend time configuring the systems to meet the demands of the enthusiast user. Cryo have explained that other system builders have copied their bios settings so they asked if we could blur some of the voltage settings in our images. We obliged out of courtesy. Cryo save their overclocked settings as a bios profile, so you can recall them at any time.

Playing further with the bios, we found that 5ghz was stable, although the core temperatures did increase into what could be classed as a long term ‘danger zone'. We have no complaints with any of the settings, and leaving C states enabled means that the system won't be demanding as much power on a constant basis. Obviously some people will like this turned off, and its easy enough to disable manually.
