Wired2Fire Diablo GTX Gaming System Review (4.8ghz @ £999)

We have to admit, we had never heard of Wired2Fire before this review, but they clearly are bringing a high level of expertise to the UK enthusiast sector.

The Wired2Fire Diablo GTX gaming system we received for review is capable of powering through all the latest Direct X 10 and Direct X 11 engines without a problem, at 1080p. Thanks to the inclusion of the excellent Nvidia GTX570 we are able to crank all the settings, including anti aliasing. Some of the titles we configured with 16x AA and the frame rates were maintained at super smooth rates.

We have to make special mention of the cable routing, as it was as good as we have seen. Wired2Fire have hidden all the cables carefully behind the motherboard to keep the build as clean as possible – it is just a shame that the Fractal case didn't expose this with a windowed panel although there are many other cases to choose from during the build phase.

The Intel Core i5 2500k is a fantastic processor which really comes to life when overclocked past 4 ghz. At 4.8ghz it is capable of handling more serious duties such as 3D rendering and video encoding. Power consumption is also noteworthy, this system consumes less than 100 watts when idling, 221 watts when the processor is at full load and 338 watts when fully tasked during intensive Direct X 11 games.

The only negative we will mention would be the noise levels, which were a little higher than we liked. This is a problem when adopting the Thermaltake Frio, because unless you turn both fans all the way down it is far from silent. It is a great cooler, but Thermaltake sadly don't select the highest quality fans. We would much prefer the Noctua NH D14, but at least Wired2Fire offer the Corsair H80 Liquid CPU Cooler for £33 extra. This is a good move, as it is quieter, lighter and will cause less concerns when shipping.
