HTC may unveil Windows Phone 8 devices in mid-September

The latest mumbling around the world are suggesting that HTC plans to unveil its Windows Phone 8 range in the third week of September at an event in either London or New York.

The models in question have been leaked previously and have been codenamed as the Rio, Accord and Zenith.

The Rio is at the lowest end of the spectrum and offers a 4 inch WVGA (480×800) display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8227 chipset which includes a 1 GHz dual-core Krait processor and an Adreno 305 GPU. There will also be 512 MB of RAM on board, as well as a 5 MP camera and 14.4 Mb/s HSPA connectivity.

Upping the scale a bit will be the Accord with a 4.3 inch 720p Super LCD2 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A chipset with a dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The Accord will also have an 8 MP camera, NFC and 42 Mb/s HSPA+ connectivity.

The top of the line Zenith will include a 4.7 inch 720p Super LCD2 display and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor. It will also boast the same 8 MP sensor as the Accord and also offer the same connectivity options.

All going well, these devices will be available for purchase in October.

KitGuru says: With Samsung dominating Android, HTC could find a niche in the Windows Phone 8 platform.
