Slightly deeper pockets will soon be required if a new motherboard is on the shopping list. It’s been said that motherboard vendors will be looking to increase prices on their boards by as much as 10% in the very near future, potentially as early as the end of this quarter.

Likely never. Intel doesn't do that, as they can count on selling out old stock anyway when the new ones come out. So getting one today is as good as ever. The upcoming new line won't be dramatically faster except on the internal GPU side.

Bought a Gigabyte 1366 just a month ago for some overclocking.

Might buy the cheapest 1366 mobo I can find as I have a spare GPU, crappy PSU a Dell case, 12GB DDR3 memory and an i7940 lying around.

I tried to put all the spare stuff back in my old Dell the other day, but it won't power up. The light goes on on the PSU, but that's it. Got a feeling I fried or shorted the Dell mobo. I certainly haven't treated it gently.
