Default GTX485: Less hot and noisy in the sack?

KitGuru has heard that nVidia’s been through the first iteration of the GTX480 with a fine tooth comb, to create a GTX485 product that can run at least 20MHz more on the core clock, with improved cooling and performance. It’s also worked through some neat driver improvements that will also help. Nice.

Still based on GF100, or moved on to GF104? In the end it is the GTX495 I am waiting for. Nice to see them refining and strengthening the foundation though.

A 5'C reduction Won't go down well at all with anyone.

I want to see at least 15'C reduction over that cards (GTX480) current load Temps and then i'll be impressed!

I would say this is a bad news for the ones who just bought their GTX 480 or even the SC's by EVGA...and I would be one of them. All I can say is "Dang why now?"

Anyway reduction of heat and noise is a major improvement, it's not that 5 or 6 C is high but still.

Less hot and noisy in the sack? why does that not sound good. In the sack hotter I thought was better and less noise, well that all depends on the moment

I think this is good news, the GTX480 has a lot of performance but apart from the price obviously, the temperatures and power drain seem to be the main talking point on forums.

This might help a bit, but I think the card needs a more significant drop in temps. one site I read a review on said theirs hit 100c. So the 485 will be 95c? or thereabouts? Imagine the ambient heat that is churning out inside a chassis, which affects CPU, ram temps etc. 5870 seems a SOOO much better buy right now. (5970 is too hot as well I think)
