Default Does this need RMAing?

Hi all

There's something wrong with my GTX570. All of a sudden it can't run games smoothly (they're not even at max) when it used to be able to (at max), my 3d Mark Vantage GPU score has gone down from 18000 to 8000, my folding PPD has gone down from 14.5k to 13k(should have been around 15.5k in the first place anyway ), I lag watching videos (HD or not), flash banners on websites make me lag, Windows Live Mail and MSN lag... What's going on? I am on the latest drivers, 266.58.

It's got the MSI Twin Frozr II factory overclock (786/1572/2100) but otherwise I haven't added anything to that. The temperatures are fine too, 60*C max while running Kombustor (which by the way lags too.)

Does this need RMAing?

Confirm it's hardware and not a software issue asap.

How would I go about doing that? I would've thought all the problems in the various programs confirmed that.

It could be something else causing the slowdowns. Check CPU and GPU activity while running the tests, and CPU activity while not running them as well. The issue might come from other drivers, as well as your PC could also be infected by malware.

Can you test the card on another system?

For the life of me I cannot find a program which monitors and logs CPU and GPU use.

Task Manager reports my CPU at 0% while not running any benchmarks/tests.

I just reinstalled the drivers, seems to have fixed the video and flash lag, but I ran Vantage again and got the same ~8000 marks.

Gpu-z, afterburner and such can read those. Check if it's running at full 3d clocks as well.

Yep the GPU definitely goes to 100% (~98, 99) and it is running at full 3D clocks.

If you're not having fun, RMA man...

If you feel hesitant RMAing it, hook it up to a friends rig and see how it runs...
It could be your OS or An unstable overclock (CPU/RAM)

That is odd, testing in another machine would tell you for sure as mentioned.

I had an X1950 years ago do something similar out of the box. It was a setting or something, I think Chaos figured it out. I can't remember what the heck it was.

I think the best bet is try it in another machine if you can.
