Default Beware, careful with EASUS cloning

Make sure you unplug any drives you don't want messed with, I just downloaded EASUS 3.5 to clone my new Win7 rebuild.

I thought something was peculiar when the drives were listed out of order, (C and D are different brands in my case), in the source/destination process.

When it was finished the drive names were gone, and Windows could not read the newly cloned drive and wanted to reformat it!

IT HAD CLONED my UBUNTU drive instead! Even showed the smaller disk size 160 instead of 500Gb, and that smaller drive was unplugged by then.

Be careful. I had perfect results with EASUS in Win7x32, so this could be a 64bit glitch. Double checked their site and didn't find a 64bit specific ver.

Smile That reminds me to uninstall it.

Yep, thanks for the warning. I have the paid version of Easeus (work station). I foolishly bought it before realizing the free version had everything I needed.

Anyway, I don't trust that software. A while back I had to do some cloning due to a failing HDD. Didn't go too well. I ended up using W7 backup/image in the end.

When I recently cloned my C drive to a new SSD, I didn't even bother to try it. Windows 7 has all the necessary tools for basic cloning/copy and backup. And it works.

In fact, I'm going to uninstall it right now to save space on my 128GB SSD.

Thanks for the reminder Bruce!
