Nintendo finally unveils the NX, now called ‘Nintendo Switch’

Over the last week or so there have been several sources claiming that Nintendo would finally reveal the NX console this month and fortunately enough, the information turned out to be accurate, as a preview trailer for the system went live this afternoon. This quick three-minute look at the system gives us a new name for the console, which is now known as the ‘Nintendo Switch'.

This trailer comes after months and months of silence from Nintendo on the subject of NX. It seems that investors have also got a little excited over the reveal, as Nintendo's market share value also shot up once news hit that a reveal would be happening today.

The Nintendo Switch basically has all of the features previously leaked. It is a home console, that also doubles as a gaming tablet of sorts with detachable controllers and a docking station for use on a TV instead. Honestly judging by the trailer, the idea actually looks pretty awesome.

The trailer gives us a quick look at some of the games coming to NX, including Zelda, Splatoon, NBA 2K and even The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. The console is launching in March 2017 but aside from that, no further details were given so we are still in the dark when it comes to specifications and pricing.

KitGuru Says: The Nintendo Switch is a pretty good name and it gets the message across nicely, which is a big step up from the Wii U. The trailer video also did a good job of selling me on the idea of a home console doubling as a portable handheld. Have you guys seen the Nintendo Switch reveal? What do you think of it?
