Well the new Cryengine is pretty

As you might expect, Crytek, the makers of all the Cry franchises (Far Cry and Crysis), has announced a new version of its CryEngine back-end development tool and game engine, though this time around it's not numbering it: simply calling it, CryEngine. We can call it CryEngine 4 all we want, according to Crytek, this is just the one engine that it will continue to develop going forward.

But enough introduction, check out some of the pretty visuals in the debut trailer:

According to Crytek, this is the first ever cross-platform, cross-generation engine, that's capable of developing for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC all at the same time. Some of the features like DX 11 tessellation of course won't be compatible with the older machines, but that's the point of CryEngine's scalability.

We also get a behind the scenes glimpse at Ryse: Son of Rome in the video, letting us know for the first time why that quick time event filled, Michael Bay-esque movie/game looks so pretty.

KitGuru Says: There's a lot of very impressive features in there, but I have to say the puddle blew my mind. That's some stunning visuals and simulation work. What was your favourite part of the video?
