£450 for an Xbox One photo?

Last week we put out an article on the Xbox One day one edition boxes being sold for as much as the console on eBay but this week's story definitely takes the cake. A 19 year old from Nottingham has paid £450 for a badly printed photo of a day one edition Xbox One.

Peter Clatworthy had set out to grab an Xbox One for his 4 year old son but ended up accidentally buying in to a scam of sorts. I'm a little hesitant to call it a scam as the listing did say that he was buying a photo. That said, these types of sellers usually put the listings up in hope that someone won't check properly and end up paying for nothing.

The seller could have at least topped up the ink in his printer first. To add insult to injury, it even says thank you for buying on the back.

“I looked at the seller's feedback and there was nothing negative. I bought it there and then because I thought it was a good deal,” he said. “It's obvious now I've been conned out of my money.”

It's not all bad though, eBay came through for him: “We don't allow listings which mislead, and will take action against this seller,” Once eBay's customer service got involved, the fooled teenager did manage to get a refund.

KitGuru Says: Since he was planning on buying the console so close to the release date it makes me wonder, why didn't he just pop in to Game and put down the £20 deposit for pre-order and then pay off the rest on release? It would've saved him all the disappointment.

  1. A 19 year old, with a for year old son? Maybe that’s where he went wrong to begin with

  2. Read this ona different post earlier today which had more detail. How many 19 year old students who in their right mind would buy their 4 year old kid a £450 games console? The muppet even read in the description that it was for a PHOTO yet he still went and bought it? Some fools part with their money way too easily.
