Age of Mythology is getting a new expansion, 13 years after release

Age of Mythology launched all of the way back in 2002 on the PC, developed by Ensemble Studios, and now 13 years later, the game is returning with a new expansion. The new expansion will be called ‘Tale of the Dragon' but development duties have been passed on to SkyBox Labs and Forgotten Empire.

These two studios have worked on Age of Mythology: The Extended Edition, which comes with the first game and the Titan expansion. They also worked on Age of Empires 2: HD Edition.

This all comes a few months after the announcement of a new Age of Empires 2 expansion, which was revealed back in April. Microsoft Studios did publish both Age of Empires and Age of Mythology, so it seems that the company is on a bit of an RTS resurgence scheme at the moment.

Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon will have a gameplay reveal on the 2nd of October during a livestream over on Twitch, so we will find out more then.

KitGuru Says: Microsoft seems to be out to revive a few of its RTS franchises at the moment. We've got Age of Empires returning, a new Halo Wars is coming next year and now Age of Mythology is coming back. Did any of you play Age of Mythology? Will you be checking out the expansion?
