Mafia 3 announced, trailer coming at Gamescom

After a few years without a game in the series, 2K Games has announced Mafia 3, which is set for a full reveal at Gamescom at the end of this week. The third Mafia game is being developed by Hangar 13, a studio based in California recently created by 2K.

The game already has a teaser image, though the trailer won't appear online until the 5th of August, which also happens to be the same day as Microsoft's Xbox conference for Gamescom, meaning there might be some form of partnership there, though that is pure speculation. Sony is not having a Gamescom briefing this year, so that rules them out.

Mafia

Previous rumours suggested that Mafia 3 was in development at 2K Czech, though it seems 2K passed the game over to a new studio at some point during development, so it is hard to tell exactly how far along the game might be. A casting call back in March of last year seemingly revealed that the new game will be set in Louisiana.

Either way, we will find out more on Sunday.

KitGuru says: Mafia 2 was pretty popular, though I imagine all of the hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto V caused the third game's release to be pushed back a bit to avoid conflict. Did any of you play the previous Mafia games? Looking forward to the third?
