The Star Wars Battlefront beta has been extended

As I'm sure most of you have heard by now, DICE is holding a Star Wars Battlefront open beta- it has actually been live for a few days already. The beta test was scheduled to finish off today but the studio has decided to extend things a bit further at the last-minute. The Battlefront beta, which includes two multiplayer modes and a co-op wave mission, will now run until Tuesday the 13th of October.

The tests over the next 24 hours are intended to stress test the server infrastructure under some extreme conditions and scenarios. This way, DICE can prepare for the worst ahead of time, rather than botching up the game's launch on the 17th of November.

The studio has warned that players may well face issues they hadn't come across earlier on in the beta: “These tests are to help us find some extreme scenarios, and that means some players may experience occasional issues such as being kicked from the game or losing connectivity”.

I have been playing the game a bit myself and while it definitely feels like a Star Wars game, the Walker Assault mission has some pretty bad balancing issues. The imperial team definitely seems to have an advantage over the Rebels, though DICE likely won't fix this until the final game launch in around five weeks time.

KitGuru Says: If there is one thing I can say about Battlefront, it's that it definitely feels like an authentic Star Wars game. However, at this point in time the Walker Assault game mode can be very frustrating and I'm not too sure how long the game will stay fun for. Have any of you been playing the Battlefront beta this weekend? What are your thoughts so far?
