Hacker defaces NBC and Lady Gaga websites

A hacker who calls himself ‘pyknic' has taken credit for defacing some websites belonging to NBC as well as a Lady Gaga website.

People who visited the sites yesterday were presented with a message which referenced the failed assassination against King James I of England and King James VI of Scotland. This was the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

The hacker said that he exposed the site user information and passwords. The Associated Press have said that the hacker may be associated to well known hacking group Anonymous, because of the Guy Fawkes mask which is used by the group.

Anonymous have said they were not involved in the attack. A twitter account associated with the group called YourAnonNews denied involvement. The attack was not followed by one of the trademark group videos or press releases.

Kitguru says: Attacks by Anonymous are expected today however, Guy Fawkes Day in protest of government regulation of the Internet and the holding of several Anonymous members.
