Mozilla release Firefox 4 for Android OS

Mozilla have released Firefox 4 mobile browser for Android OS based phones. The new Firefox 4 for Maemo and Android mobile platform based devices offers tabbed browsing, bookmarks, Firefox Sync support and even addons. The new Firefox 4 doesn't however support old ARM v6 CPU based phones and Adobe Flash.

Mozilla claim that the new Firefox 4 engine is up to three times faster than the reference browser which is bundled with Android. V4 has the enhanced Javascript engine with JaegerMonkey JIT compiler to make page loading faster and to improve the overall graphics performance. The new streamlined interface is designed to help people on more restrictive screen sizes.

Firefox users can customise their favourite search engine and also easily access the history which is provided via the Firefox Sync feature that syncs tabs, sessions and bookmarks. The developers have added location aware browsing support for HTML5 and device orientation, acceleration and desktop notifications.

A handy new feature is the save to PDF option which means you can view websites offline later. Firefox 4 also adds new social network sharing features meaning you can share text and images of websites over social networks by long tapping on them.

You can download the mobile browser for Android and Maemo devices over here.

KitGuru says: this will offer Android users a tasty upgrade for their browsing experience.
