Google Nexus 4 faces its biggest competition yet, the pavement

With the recent launch of the Google distributed, LG produced Nexus 4 it was only a matter of time before someone decided to drop test one for the sake of science and thousands of interested mobile enthusiasts.

In the video below two drops were done; one from the pocket and one from head height, simulating dropping the phone whilst talking. The phone is largely dominated by Corning's Gorilla Glass 2 and a result the first drop barely damaged the device with no noticeable scratches. However, the second drop from head height resulted in the phone's back cracking. It should be said that the phone was still perfectly operable afterwards.

This isn't particularly surprising as I have seen dozens of iPhones with cracked and shattered rear backs. It does go to show regardless that LG has done a good job of putting together the Nexus 4 and it should stand up to everyday knocks and bumps with ease.
