LG announce Optimus G and L9 Android phones

LG has announced two 4.7 inch devices in the last two days; the Optimus G will be their flagship device and the Optimus L9 will be a mid-range competitor.

Starting with the Optimus  G, it is one of the first devices to be announced with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. This includes a 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU and an Adreno 320 GPU. There is also 2 GB of RAM to keep multitasking smooth. The 4.7 inch True HD IPS+ display has a 1280×768 resolution and introduces “fully integrated touch technology”. When translated this essentially means that the touch sensor has been integrated into the glass substrates of the display, making the overall package of the phone smaller and should improve sunlight visibility. The Optimus G is 8.45mm thick.

It will also have 32 GB of internal storage, NFC and a 2100 mAh battery. For all of your camera requirements it will boast a 13 MP rear facing camera and a 1.3 MP sensor for video calls. It will launch with Android 4.0 and should receive an update to Android 4.1 in the near future. International retail availability will likely commence from October or November.

The LG Optimus L9 is a 9.1mm thin device and packs mid-range into an attractive shell. It has a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage and a 4.7 inch IPS display of unknown resolution. It also has a 5 MP rear camera and a 2150 mAh battery. It also includes what LG is marketing as My Style Keypad that adapts the keyboard for one or two-handed use. It will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG's UI skin.

KitGuru says: LG hasn't been well recognised by the Android community in recent years so many will be curious to see the the Optimus G can turn it around.
