Sony Yuga smartphone pictured with 1080p display

When HTC announced the J Butterfly for the Japan market last month we knew it was only a matter of time before other 1080p smartphones started to arise. While not officially announced, a device codenamed as the Yuga manufactured by Sony has been leaked.

The Android smartphone has a 5 inch 1080p display, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor that is likely to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro and 2 GB of RAM. It shall also have a 12 MP camera with dedicated camera button and launch with Android 4.x Jelly Bean. The sealed glass uni-body design means that there will be no access to the battery, however it will reportedly feature a MicroSD slot and HDMI connectivity.

Based on these specifications the Yuga will be able to easily compete with existing flagships, something that Sony has arguably failed to do previously. As is usual with early leaks such as this, we have no idea when it will be available or for how much.

KitGuru says: While this smartphone from Sony will not launch as the Yuga, it will be an impressive phone to keep your eye out for.
