The HTC One M9 is getting RAW photo support

HTC is hoping to beef up its One M9 camera software a bit more by adding in support for RAW photos. Since its release, reviewers have picked up on the HTC One M9's slightly lacking camera so the company has been at work making software updates to try and bump things up a bit.

The latest camera update adds the ability to save photos in the RAW file format, which is often used by many professional photographers. RAW uses very little image processing and features no compression, which results in larger file sizes, it also leaves room to play around with editing software.

Not many flagship devices support shooting in RAW, the Galaxy S6 for instance does not make use of the file format. The update to the HTC One M9 comes in the form of a Play Store update to the camera app so there is no need to update your firmware or check for an Android version upgrade.

Once your camera app is updated, HTC One M9 users can set up RAW shooting mode and start filling up their memory.

KitGuru Says: HTC hasn't quite managed to get its camera right with the One M8 or the One M9. However, at least the company is attempting to make things a bit better with these software updates. Do any of you guys have an HTC One M9 or an M8? What do you think of the camera?
