Xplay3S to be the first 1440p smartphone

Our smartphone screens seem to be getting bigger every year, from the 4″ Iphone to the nearly 6″ HTC One Max. A bigger screen calls for a higher resolution and most smartphones have started adopting 1080p; now though Vivo wants to push 1440p onto smartphone screens starting with its Vivo Xplay 3S.

We've seen 2560×1600 in a two Samsung made tablets, the Nexus 10 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 but we've not seen so many pixels in anything smaller than 10 inches. We don't know the screen size for the upcoming smartphone but other than the resolution some other talking points include a possible 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and dual band LTE.

With a 2.3 GHz processor the phone wouldn't just have the highest resolution but also one of the fastest running processors found in a smartphone. I say fastest running as GHz don't mean everything, the Iphone 5s usually sports a slower running processor but thanks to the heavy optimisation it out benches top spec Android devices. Dual LTE mode means the phone will take advantage of both TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G allowing for much faster speeds, that said, top spec Android devices have started implementing these features anyway.

Take these specs with a pinch of salt as nothing here is official yet and we won't know for sure until we receive an official announcement.

KitGuru Says: We don't have 24″ 1440p monitors yet but we can get 144op smartphones and tablets. I can barley notice the jump from 720p to 1080p in smartphones so I doubt cramming so many pixels in will benefit much – it's good for bragging rights though I suppose. Would you guys be interested in such a high resolution smartphone?
