RIM release BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0.1.

Research In Motion have released Playbook OS 2.0.1 update, alongside their 4G version of the Playbook. The company are still dealing with a leak of Playbook OS 2.1 from a couple of days ago.

The 2.0.1. update is primarily a performance related upgrade for Blackberry Playbook WiFi versions. RIM have not released a change log for the update although reports have been flowing online about performance improvements without noticeable new features.

Even though a version has already been leaked, the company plan on releasing Playbook OS 2.1 which contains improvements to the Android Player. Playbook OS 2.1 means that the tablet won't need to run converted Android applications inside a single application space. Text messaging will be accessible via BlackBerry Bridge.

Kitguru says: There is still no official word on the time frame for V 2.1, but it will be issued over the air to current customers.
