Asus G73 Republic Of Gamers Laptop Review

We were very impressed with the Asus G73 Republic Of Gamers laptop because it combines a high level of quality components throughout while utilising a very unusual and appealing chassis design. It is the ‘Stealth Fighter' of the gaming performance laptop world.

While ours arrived in a bad state of array we would like to assume that if you bought one online then the packaging would be substantial and Windows 7 would be running without too much crapware preinstalled. We can't unfortunately confirm or deny this, as we had no way of returning the machine to a default retail shipping state. We also wonder why Asus haven't opted to use the two drives in a Raid 0 partitioned configuration, for ultimate performance. A machine like this needs a Raid 0 configuration, or a small Solid State drive set as the boot drive for that matter … as standard.

We were pleasantly surprised to see this machine with our high end configuration retailing for only £1,644.96 inc vat. We had initially expected it to cost in the region of £2,000 and we feel it is quite a bargain considering the excellent chassis design, high performance levels and overall build quality.

On the gaming front, the G73 certainly lives up to its ‘Republic Of Gamers' mantle, because it can power through all the modern day engines with relative ease. It does so without generating an extortionate amount of heat, or noise either. This is great to see.

Kitguru says: As a gaming tour de force then the G73 is a machine to be reckoned with.
