MSI GE40-2OC Dragon Eyes Laptop Review (i7-4702MQ/GTX760M)

The tests were performed in a controlled air conditioned room with temperatures maintained at a constant 24c – a comfortable environment for the majority of people reading this.

Idle temperatures were measured after sitting at the desktop for 30 minutes. Load measurements were acquired by running Furmark and Cinebench together. Room ambient temperatures were 23c.

We measured results with CPUID Hardware Monitor software. The CPU was loaded with Cinebench in a loop and Furmark stress test.
component temperatures
The cooling system inside the small chassis has to work hard to maintain stable temperatures. The fan speeds are high and we will measure the noise shortly in the review. The Core i7 4702MQ is clearly a powerful mobile processor but it might be better suited to a larger chassis.

We attached five diodes to the back of the chassis and measured the temperature (Celcius) after one hour of intensive work and gaming.
TEMPS
The underside of this chassis gets hot over time, and would be hard to deal with directly placed on a lap. The powerful hardware transmits a lot of heat through the heatpipes. Plenty of hot air escapes out the side of the machine but the surrounding plastic also gets very hot to the touch.
