Apple to unveil iPhone 6 on the 9th of September – report

Apple intends to formally unveil its next-generation iPhone 6 family of smartphones on the 9th of September, 2014, according to a media report. The launch is projected to be the biggest iPhone introduction ever since Apple’s smartphones are going to finally get large screens, all-new design and a new operating system.

Re/code reports that Apple will formally introduce its iPhone 6 with 4.7” and 5.5” displays at a special event on Tuesday, the 9th of September, 2014. The company is expected to start shipments of the devices in September, too. Earlier it was expected that the new iPhones could be launched as early as in August, but it looks like Apple decided to announce the new smartphones in September, just like it does traditionally.

The eighth-generation Apple iPhone smartphones will be based on the all-new A8 application processor and will run iOS 8 operating system. The new smartphones will carry minimum 32GB of NAND flash storage, unlike predecessors.

Pricing and other specifications of the iPhone 6 are not known at the moment.

Apple did not comment on the news-story.

KitGuru Says: For some reason Apple decided to announce the new iPhone in the first half of September. Traditionally, the company does this in mid- or late-September. The early launch could mean that Apple needs additional days of sales to ensure higher shipments of the smartphone this year.
