Acer release C720 Chromebook

Acer have announced the release of their third generation Chromebook featuring Haswell. The new C720 will be quicker than the older model and will have longer battery life due to improvements with the Haswell architecture.

The C720 ships with an anti glare screen which should popular for those people who like to use their machine outdoors. This ComfyView display is 11.6 inches with a resolution of 1366×768.

At the heart of the machine is the Google Chrome operating system, which I have been using myself now for almost a year. It is surprisingly capable and quick to respond and ideal for those who need access to email, web browsing and general office duties. The system is 802.11 a/b/g/n capable. There is BlueTooth 4.0 onboard, along with a full sized FineTip keyboard, HD webcam and built in microphone with stereo speakers.

The C720 boots from cold in less than 7 seconds and has almost instant resume. They claim a battery life of 8.5 hours. There are USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the C720 with HDMI to hook it up to an external monitor or television. There is also a SD card slot to share files.
