Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Review (with battery slice 39+)

A very important part of overall system responsiveness is down to hard drive performance. We use two of our favourite benchmark utilities Crystalmark X64 Edition and HD Tach to rate the 7,200 rpm mechanical hard drive.

The 7,200 rpm 2.5 inch drive performs much as we would expect, peaking at around 100 MB/s in the sequential read test, and a couple of megabytes per second slower in the write test. Later in the review we will swap out this drive for a high performance drive and compare the performance changes.
