Asus G74SX-91013Z 17.3 inch Notebook Review

The tests were performed in a controlled air conditioned room with temperatures maintained at a constant 23c – a comfortable environment for the majority of people reading this. Idle temperatures were measured after sitting at the desktop for 30 minutes. Load measurements were acquired by running Furmark and Cinebench together.

The cooling system is not only reasonably quiet, but the component temperatures are maintained around the 70c zone when loaded, which is better than many high performance laptops we have reviewed in recent months.

We also attached 5 diodes to the rear of the machine to measure the load temperatures of various parts of the chassis. These were measured after 1 hour of intensive work.

The G74SX cooling system is really noteworthy, as the air flow methodology ensures that the underside is relatively cool at all times. Cool air is sucked in under the LCD panel and warm air is forced out the rear of the machine. It means you can use this on a lap without any major discomfort problems.
