OnePlus 3 is the first to launch invite-free

Following on from many, many leaks, OnePlus officially announce the OnePlus 3 smartphone today. Previously OnePlus has launched new handsets with an invite system designed to help control stock and demand but that won't be the case this year as the OnePlus 3 will be available to purchase directly with no invite necessary.

The OnePlus 3 launches with a price tag of $399 and you get quite a powerful phone for the money, with a Snapdragon 820 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 16 megapixel camera, a fingerprint scanner and 64GB of storage.

The OnePlus 3 also packs a 3000mAh battery, a 5.5-inch AMOLED 1080p display, which should compete with Samsung when it comes to colours and vibrancy. In terms of overall design changes, the OnePlus 3 comes with an all aluminium design, NFC and quick charging features.

Thanks to Qualcomm's new processor supporting quick charge technology, OnePlus has been able to enable what it is calling ‘dash charge', which will get the phone from zero to sixty percent in half an hour.

KitGuru Says: OnePlus has made quite a name for itself over the last few years and now that the invite system is gone, perhaps we will see more people end up buying one. Do any of you guys use a OnePlus device? Are you thinking about upgrading?
