EE launches 4G mobile in 10 more UK locations

EE have continued to expand their super fast mobile broadband coverage by adding 4G to another ten UK locations.

Businesses and consumers in Altrincham, Bedford, Camberley, Crawley, Farnborough, Farnham, Maidstone, Rochdale, Tonbridge and Welwyn Garden City are now able to hook up their devices with 4G speeds. EE are delivering 4G services using spectrum in the 1,800mhz frequency band.  They also secured spectrum in the 800mhz and 2.6ghz bands meaning they have plenty of room for further expansion down the line.

The number of cities now in the UK with 4G coverage has expanded to 95, nine months after the network enhancements launched in October 2012.

EE claim that the super quick 4G network is now available to 60 percent of the UK population, a figure they are continuing to improve every month. They are also planning to roll out double speed 4G in more cities.

Double speed 4G is available in Belfast, Newcastle and Southampton, adding to the 12 cities already with the support.

4G allows the end user to download data at speeds up to a theoretical 60 MB/s, although it is generally between 24 MB/s and 30 MB/s in most locations.

EE Chief Executive Officer Olaf Swantee said that his company had a ‘busy summer' planned, with the launch of their shared broadband and pay as you go plans.

He added “The arrival of double speed 4G in a further three cities means we remain one step ahead, and on-track to provide our customers with a world leading mobile experience.”
