AC RYAN VEOLO Android Media Streamer Review

The VEOLO is a lovely little unit, much smaller than the PLAYON! devices from the last generation. It is finished in piano style black which looks really attractive in a living or bedroom. The only downside is that fingerprints are easily seen and dust builds up quickly on the surface. Keeping a polishing cloth at hand would be a good idea. It measures 150 x 114 x 36 mm and weighs 375 grams.

Thankfully AC Ryan have decided to avoid using a simple square chassis design, opting for a sleek, curved custom design which is very attractive. the VEOLO name can be seen on the front of the fascia. There is a small glowing panel in this area which can be seen when it is powered on, and in dimly lit environments.

The right panel of the product has no connectors, but on the left is a USB host connector, a power button and a SD/SDHC media slot which supports up to 32GB.

The rear panel has a power input, an HDMI 1.3 connector and a GB lan cable. Additionally there is another USB host connector and S/PDIF optical out (5.1 capable).

The internal design is very clean indeed with everything crammed into a very small space. The processor is a 1GHZ ARM Cortex-A9 with full floating point support. It also has JAVA hardware acceleration and 3D Graphics hardware acceleration with OpenGL ES Support. On the board is 512MB of DDR3 memory and 4GB of NAND Flash Memory for OS and Apps Installation. We have some high resolution images of the internals on the next page if you wish to take a closer look.
