Asus MS236H Ultra Slim Panel review

The Asus MS236H is a fantastic looking screen which reminded me of a product Apple might introduce to market. I doubt many people will argue this point. It is beautifully designed and caught the eye of everyone who saw it in our offices.

With full 1080p resolution and a fantastic response time it should be an ideal purchase for Bluray movie fanatics and even the demanding gaming audience who want something that looks stunning on their desk. Sadly there are too many factors working against it.

The price at time of publication is over the £200 mark and this puts it up against serious competition especially when some fantastic panels are selling for £50 less. There is no DVI support (unless you buy a converter), you can't scale video, you can't mount it on a wall and there is considerable inconsistencies with our black level testing. The unresponsive touch sensitive control system also infuriated me as it often just didn't work … until I tried several times from slightly different angles.

At the end of the day however, whether you want this screen will ultimately depend on your love for the radical design and beautiful appearance … it is the strongest selling point, because technically it just failed to impress me. I would like to see how the higher end LED model (MS238H) handles but the particular unit we reviewed today is a tough one for me to recommend to the Guru audience.

KitGuru says: Sadly we feel this screen just doesn't offer high enough image quality to make it a good purchase for a demanding enthusiast. This is a shame as the design is absolutely stunning.
