After spending the past week using the Rosewill RK-9000 I really have adapted to the feel of this keyboard. At a first glance the RK-9000 looks like a rather boring product with little to differentiate it from competiting products. We are happy to report that this is far from the truth.
The RK-9000 will really enhance your typing speed and capabilities. The keys respond instantly to touch but are unforgiving for those people who don't perhaps hit every key perfectly. When I first started using the RK-9000 I found it hard to adapt, especially after using my favoured (and rather spongy) Saitek Eclipse II. After a few days of use this pattern changed significantly, the typo's were disappearing and typing speed was actually increasing.
When using the RK-9000 for gaming the keyboard responded admirably and with precision accuracy. Dodging incoming rounds seemed effortless as I moved through the selected maps. To satisfy a curiosity I decided to locate and reinstall Unreal Tournament 2004. Anyone that played the UT series knows how important it is to master multiple key combinations in order to pull off the special moves required. The Rosewill RK9000 really excelled in this environment.
If you are a ‘hunt and peck' typist the Rosewill RK- 9000 may not be for you but for anyone who types on a regular day to day basis we feel this keyboard would be an excellent purchase. They tactile style Cherry MX switches provide that old school feeling we grew accustomed to when we were introduced to the old IBM keyboards back in the day.
It's fast and accurate and also a great gaming keyboard that we would recommend to anyone not afraid to part with their hard earned cash. NewEgg.ca had this keyboard listed at $99 which falls right in place with other high quality mechanical style keyboards, but it is currently a deactivated item which means they may be waiting on stock or perhaps expecting a new revision.
The USA version of NewEgg is currently showing stock and is priced at $99.99 – If you are able to get your hands on one, we feel it easily qualifies as a product that is “Worth Buying”.
If it had offered LED back lighting or built in multimedia functionality however it could have scored even higher. That said, the Rosewill RK-9000 easily ranks as one of the best keyboards we have tested for the price.
