Zalman has recently launched the P30 Air Micro-ATX cases designed for maximum airflow. The case is available in two colours, black and white, and features panel perforations throughout the front panel and along the sides of the bottom half. The left panel covers only the top compartment, while the right side panel allows access to both compartments.

The ZALMAN P30 Air is equipped with three 140mm ARGB-illuminated fans, of which two are mounted on the front panel, and the other is on the rear. The motherboard tray is spacious enough to accommodate 392mm-long graphics cards, 226mm-long PSUs, and 181mm-tall CPU coolers. Additionally, the motherboard tray (supporting mATX and mini-ITX) has cut-outs for motherboards that have rear-facing connections, such as the recently revealed ‘Project Zero' motherboards from MSI, which aim to hide all cable connections at the back of the PC.

The case has a 2.5/3.5-inch drive tray in the bottom compartment that supports up to two drives and three additional 2.5-inch-only drive bays. In addition to the fans included, the case supports up to three 120mm or two 140mm fans on top and bottom. As for radiators, it's limited to a 280/360mm on top and a 120/140mm on the rear.

Besides the fans, the case includes a pre-installed VGA support bracket, an ARGB controller, and top and bottom magnetic dust filters. Available in black and white, the P30 Air measures 235mm x 452mm x 420mm (WxDxH) and weighs 7.6kg.

KitGuru says: Aesthetically clean and simple, the P30 Air looks like a mid-range mATX case that should fulfil most users' needs.

Apple has recently unveiled the latest MacBook Air laptops powered by the new M3 chip. While it was expected that the MacBook Air would receive a similar upgrade to the MacBook Pro, it was unclear when it would happen. However, Apple has finally announced that it has updated the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air, with both models already available for pre-order.

Externally, no modifications have been made to any of the laptops. The 13-inch MacBook Air underwent a complete redesign two years ago, including a boxier chassis, a larger 13.6-inch display, an upgraded 1080p camera, and a MagSafe charging connector. On the other hand, the 15-inch MacBook Air was introduced less than a year ago and shares many of the same features as its smaller brother.

The most significant improvements to the updated MacBook Air models can be found under the hood. The M3 processor is based on a 3nm node and supports various new technologies such as ray tracing, mesh shading, and dynamic caching. The M3 found on the new MacBook Air laptops is Apple's latest entry-level processor, offering an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. Apple claims that the CPU performance is up to 35% faster, and the GPU performance is up to 65% faster than the M1. Moreover, the CPU and GPU are up to 20% faster than the M2.

Apple has also included support for up to two external screens, a significant improvement from the M1 and M2 Macs that could only handle one external display. However, it is worth noting that the MacBook Air must be closed for both displays to function. Both MacBook Air models have Wi-Fi 6E, providing twice as fast download rates as the M2-powered models.

The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air are only available with the standard M3 CPU. However, the 13-inch MacBook Air offers the option of an 8-core or 10-core GPU, while the 15-inch model comes exclusively with a 10-core configuration. The base versions of both capacities come with 8GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage. However, you can expand both models up to 24GB of unified memory and 2TB of storage at an additional cost. Midnight, Starlight, Space Grey, and Silver are the available colour options.

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs are now available directly from Apple's website, starting at £1,099 and £1,299, respectively.

KitGuru says: For most, the smaller and more portable version should be good enough, offering a decent display and performance for everyday tasks. For those who spend all day working on their laptop and don't like working with an external monitor, the 15-inch MacBook Air is probably the way to go.

Jonsbo has recently launched a new CPU cooler with impressive specifications and a compact design. The CR-1400 DV2 is a dual-tower CPU air cooler that is just 136mm tall with fans installed. Despite its small size, this cooler has two aluminium fin stacks, a shrouded fan mount, and a pair of 92mm fans in a push-pull configuration.

The cooler features six 6mm nickel-plated copper heatpipes that directly interact with the CPU at the base. These heatpipes pass through the two aluminium fin stacks ventilated by two 92mm fans. One fan pushes fresh air through the first fin stack, while the other is positioned between the two fin stacks, conveying air onto the second stack. Both stacks are protected by a cooler shroud that keeps the fans in place and has an ARGB-lit top plate.

The two supplied 92mm fans have fluid-dynamic bearings rated for operating over 40,000 hours and rotate at speeds ranging from 800 to 2,500 RPM. They push between 11.95 and 38.2 CFM of airflow, have a static pressure of 0.25 to 2.00mm H2O, and a noise output ranging from 22.3 to 33.8 dBA. Each fan accepts a 4-pin PWM input for the primary function and a 3-pin ARGB input for the lights. Only the “push” fan includes ARGB illumination via LEDs in the impeller hub, designed with an infinite reflection.

The CR-1400 DV2 measures 92mm x 144mm x 136mm (WxDxH) with the fan installed, and it is available in two colour options: black and white. The cooler supports CPU socket types, including LGA1700, AM5, LGA1200, and AM4. The manufacturer did not disclose the price.

AyaNeo has a string of new portable gaming systems on the way. This week, the company revealed new details for its Air and Air Pro consoles, and also announced the new Air Plus model, which will feature AMD's recently announced and upcoming ‘Mendocino' APU.

AyaNeo has recently announced the Air series, but it didn't share many details. Since then, the company has publicly revealed that the series will include a standard model, only available with a Ryzen 5 5560U, and a Pro model with either a Ryzen 5 5560U or Ryzen 7 5825U. Another difference is the battery, whereas the standard has a 28Wh capacity and the Pro has a 38Wh capacity.

Both models will feature a 1080p AMOLED with FullHD resolution, 350nits of brightness, and a 100000:1 contrast ratio. The panel will offer 99% of coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut, 100% of sRGB, 109% of NTSC, and 96% of AdobeRGB. The consoles will pack up to 32GB of LPDDR4x-4266 memory and 2TB of M.2 SSD storage depending on the model. Available in Q3 2022 in pink, white, black, or grey, the console's price starts at $549 ($499 early bird promotion), with the top model going for $1,399 ($1,299 early bird promotion).

On top of detailing the Air and Air Pro, AyaNeo announced a new portable console, the AyaNeo Air Plus. Packing a 6-inch 1080p screen and the AMD Mendocino APU, which may only feature 2 CUs according to Angstronomics (via VideoCardz). The console will be the cheapest of AyaNeo's entire line-up, starting at just $289 ($199 for early birds) in Q4 2022. We don't know much else about the Air Plus yet, but it will support M.2 SSDs.

As advanced as the drones of the future which deliver our online purchases to us sooner than ever before are, there will be some limitations. Despite Amazon's drones being designed to operate efficiently in various environments, chances are they won't be able to travel much more than 10 miles from their home-base and will be restricted to carrying packages that weigh less than five pounds.

So yes, you will need to live within a small catchment area  around an Amazon warehouse in order to take advantage of fast drone delivery whenever it begins and you will need to order small products too. Apparently though, that's not so much of an issue, as the vast majority of Amazon sold products are small and weigh very little, according to VP of global public policy at Amazon, Paul Misener.

In a chat with Yahoo news, he said that Amazon has to make the range over 10 miles, but didn't disclose how far he expected it to be. Considering the average battery life of drones, it wouldn't be too surprising if it was around that figure. The reason it's up in the air right now though, if you'll pardon the pun, is because Amazon is working on a few different prototype ideas, despite it looking rather finalised in a recent video.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXo_d6tNWuY']

Other questions related to how the drone would make a delivery if you aren't in. Apparently they'll just drop it off in a garden or other secure location that you have pre-selected. The flight itself should be relatively safe too, as Amazon is in discussion with the FAA and other relevant authorities about creating a drone airpsace at certain heights.

There's even little fear about them being shot at, as when asked about that, Misener replied that people could shoot at courier trucks already and don't.

Despite Microsoft pushing through a touch platform for the PC more than a decade ago, it took Apple's iPad for anyone to notice. The increase in touch based systems, automatically leads to an increase in cool/new touch apps. Eugene and Intel were on hand today to show off just what can be achieved. KitGuru surfaced to see what's what.

In January 2000, Alexis and Cedric Le Dressay formed Eugene in Paris. This independent game developer has grown steadily over the past 13 years and now employs a staff of 50 dedicated souls. They brought their demo team to London in order to show off the evolution from WarGame: European Escalation to a willing audience of gaming enthusiasts.

What made this presentation unusual, was the presence of Intel's PR guru, Anna Cheng.

We asked Anna why she's snuck out of Intel's ivory citadel to attend a gaming presentation.

“Well”, she started. “You will see WarGame and other demos on these desktop systems today. But the cool thing is that you can play the same game – with an even better experience – on a touch-enabled Windows 8 Ultrabook, like these from Dell and Lenovo”.

While the Dell unit had the cool screen swivel, it was the overall build quality of the Lenovo Yoga at caught our eye.

“As you can see, the game settings are fairly high”, said Anna as she opened up the game's control panel. “We're running at 1680 with all of the IQ settings over the halfway mark”.

KitGuru has to admit that the game looks fine on the Ultrabook's screen.

But then, as the game's ‘camera' scrolls over a battlefield scenario, Anna does something a little different. She folds the Yoga flat (so it is in 100% tablet mode) and starts to use her fingers. Now that's different.

“I'm not the best at these RPS games”, she said with a smile. “But the touch interface makes it really straightforward to defend the West in a Cold War simulation”.

We noted that with standard finger movements she could quickly zoom in and out of every engagement.

“You can easily move from Tank Commander to Field Marshall”, said Anna. “With a simple movement of your hand. Launching attacks is as easy as touching your offensive unit, clicking ‘attack' and then selecting a target”. Nice.

It's worth noting that the game seemed to play smoothly on both the Dell (Ivy Bridge Core i5 with HD4000) and the Lenovo (Core i7).

But then Intel has a big trick up its sleeve in Q2 with the launch of Haswell. If the predictions are correct, then the performance pick up in games could be close to 100% in some cases, which will make the market much more competitive/exciting toward next Xmas.

When Texas-trained mainboard engineers like Anna Cheng speak, y'all better listen up.

.
KitGuru says: We like the way the game plays with a touch interface. The ability to rotate the screen in all directions – even portrait mode – will appeal to games who want to carry on blasting even when they're eating cereal. From what we've seen, the Haswell Ultrabooks will probably be able to run the same game, smoothly, at native HD resolutions. Maybe not all games, but certainly the kind of interactive products Eugene is creating. More power to them both for exploiting the new interface in new ways.

Kitguru reports earlier this month of a new MacBook Air update, seem to have been close as giant retailer Best Buy have put a hold on MacBook Air orders, which would indicate that Apple are about to release an updated version of the big selling laptop.

According to information on AppleInsider, the current generation MacBook Air is now listed as ‘Not available for shipping'. Apple's online store however are still selling them, however we would imagine that if they refresh the line shortly that people who have bought them very recently may be entitled to a swap over if requested.

Best Buy are still selling them in retail stores and they are still selling the 128GB version in the UK in certain stores.

The new MacBook Air range should be really impressive, with a switch to Sandybridge and the addition of a Thunderbolt port, which has yet to gain any momentum. Applesinsider claim that Apple may hold the release until Apple can include a final retail version of Mac OS X Lion with the machines.

The new operating system is due for release in July and it has many upgrades and changes to the kernel with many new features also in place, such as mult touch gesture support and Mission Control, which works similar to the iPad and iPhone.

Apple are releasing new MacBook Air models at the end of June. Our sources in Taipei are saying that the new machines will use the latest Sandybridge technology and will have the new Thunderbolt interface as well.

Quanta Computer will be handling the main assembly procedure. Dynapack are dealing with the high demand for the batteries. The new machines will bring Apple right up to date with the technology inside and we also have heard that the power demands should be slightly lower than the previous model thanks to the new adoption of the ultra low voltage chips for these machines. Battery life should be around the 5-6 hour mark.

Apple's MacBook Air has been a big seller for the Cupertino giant, selling well, even in the face of Tablet competition. Apple have a dedicated user base for this machine and with the new model we can expect to see the last generation machines selling well on ebay as followers want to upgrade to Sandybridge.

Apple are showing that their ultra portable laptop, the MacBook Air has been well received from the public. In Q4 2010 they shipped 1.1 million Air laptops, making this new breed of ultra thin laptops one of the companies most successful Mac product launches ever.

Concord Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo spoke to Appleinsider and said that the figures are 63 percent higher than they had originally estimated. According to other reports, the MacBook Air range have sold quickly to comprise more than a third of Apple's business in the fourth quarter, selling at a 1 to 2 ratio against the flagship MacBook Pro offerings.

Steve Jobs with the MacBook Air

According to Apple they sold 2.9 million notebook systems in Q4 2010, and while they don't break down the sales figures into product families, we can see that around 40% of the overall sales have been due to the MacBook Air.

Apple's suppliers also indicate that the company are planning to build 4.5 million Mac system during Q1 2011 which would indicate that they will be one of the few companies to report growth on a quarter to quarter basis.

KitGuru says: The sales of MacBook Air laptops highlight the market shift in sales to more portable machines, which would also be verified by the increased sale of tablet systems and other ultra portables.

For those of you who have been following the news lately you will have seen that Apple's new MacBook Air uses a new SSD system. Toshiba have released a new series of drives for the laptops.

The new Blade X Gale SSD series is now available for market sales and delivers sizes of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The components offers speeds up to 220MB/s read and 180MB/s write. This falls short of the latest mainstream SSD speeds from units such as those powered by the Sandforce controller. The 64GB and 128GB units are only 2.2mm thick, but the 256GB is slightly thicker.

“Delivering a product that enables superior user experience in a smaller footprint is the ultimate goal,” noted Scott Nelson, vice president, Memory Business Unit, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. “The density of MLC NAND enables the creation of smaller form factor high density storage solutions, and Toshiba, as the technology leader for NAND storage solutions, will continue to innovate in this space.”

KitGuru says: Have you a new Macbook Air? Faulty screen? Get one of these to cheer yourself up.

Apple are expected to launch a new MacBook Air at an event later today, and also give fans a peak at the new Mac OS X operating system.

Apple are apparently going to be using a press conference to showcase the new Air, OSX 10.7 – code named ‘Lion', as well as new versions of iWork and iLfe productivity and lifestyle software suites.

Insiders have said that the new MacBook Air will have a 50 percent bigger battery, giving up to 10 hours battery life and will weight less than the current model (1.3kg). The new SSD system will also give immensely fast boot up times and system responsiveness.

Press invites were sent out a few days ago with the picture of a Lion on the invite, hinting at the naming convention of the upcoming operating system – It has always been Apple's policy to name OSX versions as ‘cat' names.

KitGuru has already reported on rumours that Apple could be preparing a new Macbook, but news just reached us this morning from Taipei that this machine could be released as soon as later this week.

This machine will be an 11.6 inch unit which contains a new form of storage instead of the 1.8 inch drive that was used in previous models.

This SSD Card is going to look like a normal memory stick, but will be pretty much impossible to replace. Apple have incorporated this to save on internal space as well as enhancing speed.

We have also heard that the new CPU will be a Core i5 processor which will offer much faster processing speeds to the last generation.

The new Macbook Air will be a similar design but slightly thicker at the back and has a slightly sharper design ethic.

As the model has yet to be offically announced there is obviously no pricing information available, but we think pricing might actually drop a little, even with the new technology. Apple need to remain competitive, especially as their iPad is driving sales into tablet sectors.

KitGuru says: The Macbook Air now faces stiff competition from the iPad. Ironic? We think so.

After spending the best part of a week clocking seven shades of super-charged-performance from the Intel 655k and 875k processors, life in the labs is moving back to normal. Looking back through all the work done, it seems that one JPG was not posted in any story – and we’d like to fix that now.

Although not stable enough to run a full suite of benchmarks, KitGuru was able to get the Intel Core i5 655k to boot at 5GHz, on air, and get through some basic tests.   5GHz Intel?   Nice!

We’ve never seen anything like it without exotic cooling so, just for the record, here’s the cool bit…

How can you be sure that you can clock processors to 5GHz? Simple, just look in the mirror. If you see something like Zardon's divine countenance staring back – then you know you can call upon the dark arts and set records for others to follow [Oh, Zardon's gonna love this. Now he's the CPU-Whisperer!  – Ed]…

Special thanks to Crucial for sending us over 6GB of their awesome Ballistic Tracer for this article.

KitGuru says: We’re old enough to remember Intel showing off a Pentium 4 running at 5GHz in a hermetically sealed chamber with all sorts of weird and wonderful cooling. While clock speed is not everything, and Conroe/Banias did a great job of changing the metrics used for success, pure speed still makes a big difference to performance…   so ‘roll on’ processors shipping at 5GHz stock!
