Wacom Bamboo Stylus for iPad Review

Wacom have created an iPad App to be used in conjunction with the Stylus called Bamboo Paper.  This is free to download, though, so you can use it with any Stylus on the market.  While the App isn't packed with features, it is fine for doodling or basic note taking.  There are numerous third party applications that you can use the stylus with that are more comprehensive, though, such as Doodle Buddy and Sketchbook Pro.

The overall user experience was acceptable and we were able to use the touchscreen on our iPad accurately as the end of the stylus is much smaller than the end of your finger.  But we think the tip has too much friction as it is difficult to draw or write with urgency when noting in the Bamboo Paper App.  We also found the tip to be a little soft and mushy and it required a little too much pressure to activate.

Like Apple's own products, the Wacom Bamboo Stylus carries a sizable price tag.  It can be yours for £25 from Amazon.co.uk which we think is quite expensive for what is essentially a metal tube with a rubber tip, especially considering there are similar models available from less well-known manufacturers for under £10.

Pros:

  • Great Build Quality
  • Perfectly sized
  • Bamboo Paper App is free

Cons:

  • Quite heavy
  • Mushy tip
  • Too much friction

KitGuru says: A very attractive and well made product that is let down by it's average functionality
