Corsair Vengeance 1500 Gaming Headset Review

The Vengeance 1500 is supplied within an attractively designed cardboard box which features a small window to give you a glimpse of the headset within.  Corsair have used a black and blue colour scheme for the box which gives it a sleek, professional appearance.

Inside the box, the headset is attached to a cardboard tray for protection.  The only other items included in the box with the headset are two information leaflets.

Corsair have adopted a difference approach to most gaming peripheral manufacturers with the aesthetic design of the Vengeance 1500.  Rather than cover the headset in aggressive-looking coloured trim, Corsair have opted for a more subtle design that combines brushed aluminum and matte black plastic.  The only other material used in the design is the perforated leatherette which covers the outer edge of the headband.

As we have found with most Corsair products in the past, the build quality of the Vengeance 1500 is top-notch and rivals the best headsets out there.  While the plastics used in construction seem to be of the highest caliber, the brushed aluminum plates on either side of the headband are what give the Vengeance 1500 a very high quality feel. We are confident that this particular design is built to last a very long time.

One slightly disappointing aspect of the Vengeance 1500 is that it isn't supplied with a carrying case and it doesn't fold up for transport.  This won't be a deal breaker for the majority of gamers, though, and the earpieces rotate which will help prevent damage during transit.

Like most high-end gaming headsets we've experienced, the Vengeance 1500 features a high quality braided cable which is sure to stand the test of time well.  The cable terminates in a single silver plated USB connector as the headset features in inbuilt USB sound card.  This enables the 7.1 virtual surround sound and Dolby Headphone.

Approximately 50cm down the cable we find the in line control which features volume up and down buttons alongside a microphone mute button.  The two volume buttons are surrounded by rings which are illuminated blue when the headset is plugged in.

The uni-directional boom microphone is attached to the left earcup and folds up out of the way when it's not in use.  While we do prefer the invisible microphones used by the likes of SteelSeries, this is one of the better ‘visible' microphones we've experienced.  It is constructed from matte black plastic and has a small brushed aluminum piece at the end for decoration.
