Roccat Cross Gaming Headset Review

The Roccat Cross is quite an unassuming set of headphones. They are matt black and with little in colouring difference between different sections, it is hard to tell what is what from a distance.

Overall they are very lightweight and incredibly flexible, which suggests that they could be a good choice for travelling, as they can take a little wear and tear. However, do not expect them to stand up to big impacts. The frame is so flexible that it could easily be broken by a solid impact or by being bent too far just one time.

I did not perform any major stress testing on this headset, but if you buy it, just be aware that it is more of a reed than an oak tree.

The ear cups are padded on the inside with memory foam and are designed to cover the ear rather than sit on it. The drivers are covered with a thin layer of black cotton.

The exterior has an etched Roccat logo, but you can only see it when the light catches it at the right angle. These headphones are so understated, they border on being a little boring to look at.

The left earcup has a built-in dial for controlling headphone volume.

Like the earcups, the Roccat headband is padded with memory foam and features a Roccat logo. The band itself features edge stitching and a leatherette coating.

The headband can be extended by a couple of inches either side to give those with more head a little more room for it. There are also R and L indicators on each side of the headband to give you an idea of which way around the headset goes.

There are two included cables with the Roccat Cross: one for mobile and one for PC gaming. The former has an in-line microphone which can be muted by a built-in switch and terminates in a single 3.5mm connector. The latter features a larger boom mic, which outputs to twin 3.5mm connectors – one for the mic and the other for audio.

The boom mic's cable braided with a smooth, black finish, while the more mobile-focused cable is simply rubber coated.

Both connect directly to the headphones via a 3.5mm port on the left earcup. The boom mic's cable is in-line with the connector.
