Microsoft solve network issues effecting services

Microsoft have suffered networking issues from yesterday which is effecting users of many of their services. They have acknowledged the problems which have caused problems when users tried to access Skydrive storage services and the Windows Live applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint in Office Live.

Chris Jones, author of the Inside Windows Live blog said “If you've been trying to use Hotmail, SkyDrive, or our other Live properties in the last couple of hours you may have noticed problems accessing our services. We're aware of these issues and actively working to resolve them. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”

An update a short while ago indicates that they have fixed the problems, but that they are investigating the ‘root of the issues' and they will post an update following their investigation.

This downtime was received in a very negative manner by users of the Hotmail service. The downtime seemed to cause problems globally, with users from France, Germany and even Japan posting on support forums looking for help.

Kitguru says: According to InformationWeek, protests have been vocal, with people complaining they are going to move elsewhere.
