Minox showcase new 14MP mini retro digital camera

Minox have showcased their latest miniature camera, the Minox DCC 14.0. This diminutive camera is made to a scale of 1:3 and fits in the palm of your hand. It has a 14 megapixel sensor, optical viewfinder and a fixed lens.

The quality is said to be very good, although not in the same class as larger retro cameras already available from companies such as Fujifilm. Minox said there is a 14 MP CMOS image sensor inside the camera. The 7.4mm lens gives a focal length of around 45mm and is rated at F2 which means it should work well in low light situations.

The camera won't appeal to photographic professionals, as it is fully automatic. It shoots JPEG images and AVI video at 640×480 resolution, recording them to an SD card. It has 4 times digital zoom and can focus to 50cm, not really ideal for cutting edge macro work. There is a 2 inch LCD on the rear.

The company will offer the camera in silver and black at $240. It will ship in a satin lined wooden box with optional accessories available, such as a wide angle converter, camera flash and tele converter.
