Virgin America name a jet after Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs was one of the most important technology leaders, and to mark his legacy, Virgin America have named one of their fleet after him. They have embedded a popular Steve Jobs quote on the side of the Airbus A320 which reads “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish”.

We wonder if Steve Jobs ever thought that a plane would be named after him?

The phrase was coined by Steve Jobs in the 2005 commencement address at Stanford University, claiming that it was originally used in The Whole Earth Catalogue in the 70's.

“On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.”

MacRumors spoke to Virgin America and they said “A Virgin America spokesperson explained to MacRumors that the name was chosen as part of an internal plane naming competition. The plane, with tail number N845VA, first flew last fall.”

Kitguru says: A flattering concept, in honor of the late Apple co-founder.
